I think #angelwings is the best #queeranthology I’ve read so far for my #genderqueerlit reading project. I’m not completely surprised given the fact that #ChuTienWen#QiuMiaojin and #HsuYoshen are all included here. #anthologies are never easy to put together. The perfect balance between quality literature and a cohesive theme through the stories is almost never achieved. Somehow the amazing people at the #universityofhawaiipress and #franmartin managed to make it work and at the same time shed some light on the strides being made in #taiwaneseliterature for a more inclusive, transgressive and sexually liberated prose since the 1990s. Yes, there is still only one #transgenderstory here and it is #roseisthepasttenseofridse by #wujiwen . I still think that the lack of more literary representation outside of just gay and lesbian stories is very much compensated by the high quality of the stories and how some writers strive to include #crossdressingand other different #genderexpressionstories outside of the binary.
