So this book took me longer than I expected. There is clearly a lot to take in here. As an #urdu translator of Kafka and Turgenev, Intizar is certainly employing their influences in this novel. I think it’s confusing how often he mixes these influences and his techniques: #lovestory epistolary #comingofage It’s also a very #tragic and #violent account of the #fratricidal history of #pakistan sadly continuing to this day. #husain is on the record refusing to consider this novel as a historical account.
