The most impressive part of #chronicleofthemurderedhouse is #cardoso ‘s writing style. He achieves two things perfectly and sumptuously: vivid #monologues for each character and time traveling. Each chapter in the book is written from the skewed and subjective perspective of each of the #meneses family members and those in one way or another attached to the family as well. When writing #familysagas a handful of writers can create so fully fleshed and evocative characters. #luciocardoso manages to unequivocally walk you through each one of them as if they were narrating to you their memories and opinions of what happened and what will inevitably happen. You can solely rely on their fading memories and personal ambitions and intrigues to try to piece the story together. The result is fascinating and a #cacophony of contradictory stories which will keep enticed until the last pages. To crown it all, #lúciocardoso gives the character complete liberty to relate their stories as they see fit. He unleashes on them what I’d call #timetraveling and by that I mean that the characters are not concerned with one event only or relating a linear series of events. They want to tell you whatever they think it’s the most important thing to themselves and that could mean an event which happened years ago, happening right now, moving back and forth or completely unrelated to anything. Each chapters is presented as the personal notes or #diaries of these people and how they perceived the same dramatic episodes. The result is absolutely mesmerizing.
