#holdingstillforaslongaspossible also felt to me just OK. I think that #zoewhittallwanted to shock the reader more with the #emergency and #paramedicsstories than anything really happening in the main character’s life. I get that #whittall wanted to make you think how life itself or things we might be used to are arguably more extraordinary and worth our sick curiosity than a #trans ‘ #lovestory . I get how she’s trying to turn the reader’s voyeuristic expectations around. However I wished she had aimed to draw more parallels between the personal stories and the #stateofemergency englobing #torontoor the other secondary characters. I would have wanted to see more connections between the two stories. Overall it was an entertaining story with some moments of surprising twists. However I’m pretty sure I won’t be remembering this book in a few days from now. #mytranscanadaweek#genderqueerlit #transcanada #canlit#canadianliterature #houseofanansi#houseofanansipress #citylife#queertoronto #transtoronto
