It’s always a challenge to to attempt any fictional treatment to a country’s traumatic and formative event. In this case #hankang does a marvelous and sophisticated work at presenting the #humanity behind the #gwanjuuprisingClearly Han Kang is interested in shedding light into the #personalstories the breaking points and tragedies of these stories. But even more telling to me it’s the way in which this book becomes more informative and eye opening than any academic or historical account of this particular event but also of #studentprotest and #resistancein general.
