I can’t thank enough the great of #citylightsbooks for including on the cover of #mhashish a painting by #mohammedmrabet himself. #mrabet the multifaceted artist, Mrabet the close friend of his English translator and immensely more famous #paulbowles , Mrabet the strange soul between worlds in a world obsessed with concrete and specific identities. In a lot of ways the #shortstories in this book feel like a map into his world: a world inhabited by #cannabis and #datura trees, #kif pipes and Koranic verses. The #psychedelic imagery and allusions are not here to distract anyone from anything. Quite the contrary! Mrabet’s stories seem to want to dig deeper into the core of a world gone mad, evil and self-destructive.
