Among all the previous winners of the #nobelprizeforliterature I believe #nadinegordimer deserves a prominent and special place. I know she gets a lot of credit for depicting the #dailylives of people living under the #apartheid regime. And yes, Gordimer aims for a literature of the #liberation but I think it’s a liberation from ourselves more than from an external system. In #mysonsstorythe characters are all desperately trying to break away from their imposed realities. This is clear enough to figure out when you talk about #southafrica and the apartheid. But how does it resonate with us today? I think Gordimer reaches the genius level by reminding us that apartheid and like systems are not alien entities. They were human systems created, implemented and maintained on a daily basis by us humans. #johannesburg #highlyrecommended#southafricanliterature #penguinbooks#gordimer #coupleissues #fatherandson#oedipus #liberation #zambia #activist#faketrial #joburg
