If like me you don’t know much about the last days of #napoleon and his #incarceration in the isolated island of #sthelena , then this book is certainly a good first step. #johanneswillms concentrates his short book mostly on the place (both the island and the physical structures) and how they portray a facet of Napoleon and his #lastdays . Places don’t determine who we are. However they can certainly reveal an integral part of who we are becoming or unbecoming. It’s important to me to feature books set in a particular place to show how we all construct that place whether someone tells us we belong there or not. I think #willms focused on how much Napoleon belonged to both a remote island and the imagination of so many people to this day for better or worse.
