@tiltedaxispress quickly becoming one of my favorite publishers! I now see their books and I just have to buy them. What’s going on in this deliciously intricate and #phantasmagorical book? Is this a #fable a #horrorstory a #socialcritique or all of the above? It’s probably all of that and more. Usually the reader has a great deal of power in interpreting stories while reading a book. I challenge you to do just that while reading #hwangjungeun . An #emotional and harrow roller coaster in simple and plain prose. That’s the best I can do to describe #onehundredshadows . It reminds me of the obsession with #nature or natural elements and the human condition in some Norwegian lit. But here and in much of the great #koreanliterature the setting is the fast-paced, ever-changing (maybe?) and cruel concrete #jungle of #Seoul or any other major urban area in Korea.
