Without a doubt, #poonachi is a great example of all the books throughout the world and history portraying #humanfeelings onto or through animals. At this point, this type of literature should be a must for every society and every era. Expressing human emotions through internal monologues or dialogues of animals has always been an excellent way to allow us all to stop and for a second see the world through different eyes, especially those historically disenfranchised or just different from us. Much like other similar books, Poonachi is not just the story of a #blackgoat . It’s the story of those different from us, those that our systems do not allow to be themselves, those to whom we deny any humanity whatsoever. In the context of today’s #india is difficult to read this book and not think of the current government’s pernicious anti-Muslim narrative. #perumalmurugan is no stranger to controversy with his other book, #onepartwoman which I believe I enjoyed more. Both are great and fast reads, so do not hesitate to take the plunge. #recommended #indianliterature #tamilliterature #nkalyanraman #murugan #context #Anthropomorphism #theother #tamil #raisinggoats #tamilnadu #westlandbooks
