#sabriya Sabriya. What a story! This tiny book seem destined to be read in different angles, one arguably more valid than the other: fight for #independence , #womensrights , weight of tradition versus self realization, class struggles. There is a mix of all of the above and more going on here. My guess is that #ulfatidilbi was aiming for merely providing a space for Sabriya to express herself with her own words and at her own pace. #interlinkbooks does a terrific job at providing some context and background information. However the inevitable always happens. Once the book has been published, there will be as many interpretations as people. Despite all the urges to the contrary, I want to invite all the readers to give Sabriya an attentive ear and just listen. Do not read this book, but listen to it instead. Her voice and words will resonate within you and might even haunt you for a while. It all depends where you come to see yourself within Sabriya’s story. Once the #bluebook has been written, what does it say about you? #highlyrecommended #damascus#syrianliterature #emergingvoices#frenchoccupation #damascusbittersweet#damascusthesmileofsadness #liberation#repression #cinematographic #damas#ألفت_الأدلبي #‎‎ألفت_الادلبي# #دمشق#
