#shipwrecks is a beautiful, contemplative and reflexive book. Nothing seems to happen or at least nothing in the sense of rapid and strenuous effects. However the slow pace and seemingly simple prose hides a compelling and indefatigable story. If you’re slightly familiar with #japaneseliterature and actually enjoy it, you need to add #akirayoshimura to your reading list. He was widely popular and prolific in #japan although only a handful of his book have been translated. There is only one way of reading this story and that is one elegant and peaceful #description after another. Putting all the wondrous #landscapes together like a puzzle will help you see the story. #yoshimura not only wrote an elegant piece of literature. This book is also a manifest against the ever-changing and fast-paced lives we all endure these days. Both the era and writing style he chose are persuasive statements to slow down and reflect and even meditate. #highlyrecommended #chibu #japaneselit#吉村昭 #破船 #harcourtbooks #知夫村#islands #isolation #japanesemiddleages#landscape #seaofjapan #日本海
