A few years ago my dear friend and #photographer extraordinaire @equalpartswanderandlust had to basically force me to open an IG account. Now I’m addicted! Hehehe Why? Mostly because of the sharing of great #bookrecommendations from so many people here. I saw this #gemrecommended by @sreddyen whom you should also follow ASAP. I can’t thank you enough for sharing this recommendation! #Mohlele is gold and #SmallThings is a work of genius. There is #Sartre and #Camus and #Sisyphus going on here with all its brilliant #existentialism. However there is even MORE added to the story. It’s a #meaningless story about the realization of a complete lack of #meaning when we all seemed drunk with meaning. A collapse of meaning after such a high? Maybe. I think the sheer magic and #prodigy of Mohlele resides in how he pushes us towards the fact that there was never any meaning whatsoever. The never-ending and vicious cycle of searching for meaning when we all know from the very beginning that there was NONE. You can continue to delude yourself and buy as many meanings as you want, one more devoid of meaning than the previous one. However this is not a nihilist read. It’s a #beautiful book above all, a splendid read to awaken your mind. If I were you, I would keep an eye on this guy. Hopefully we will have more and more Mohlele in the near future. #southafricanliterature#highlyrecommended #johannesburg#sophiatown #existentialist #apartheid#nthikengmohlele
