For the lovers of descriptions and landscapes out there, this is the book for you. #mashahamilton is a master of endless evocative and pristine phrases to embrace and take the reader into a deep voyage of mysterious looks and #comingofage voices. As much as I loved the beautiful setting and the ambiance, I failed to grasp myself into the story and its path. I was initially interested in the setting of a #smallvillage somewhere in between #amman , #jerusalem and #nablus in 1960s #jordan . #hamilton does make some references to the geographical, historical and cultural elements peppered throughout the story. However, in my opinion, I don’t think she went deeper in immersing her story at the confluence of all those elements plus the universal coming of age story in a small town. Instead Hamilton concentrates her efforts at embellishing her descriptions and metaphors of daily lives. All very beautiful to read, albeit without much of a story, in my very humble opinion. #staircaseofathousandsteps#bluehenbooks #penguinputnam #harif#goingmyway #faridah#historicalfiction
