I’m completely mesmerized by #syrian storytelling. #nihadsirees has got to be one its best contemporary examples. #statesofpassion takes the saying I’d kill for a story to another level. The story of today’s #aleppo as lived by its inhabitants and lovers in constant conversation with those who have left, those who died loving the city, those who live the city through its fantasies and those who lived in a different type of Aleppo. This book transport the readers into the golden age of a city less constrained by social rules and more enthused over music and passion. #women loving other women, women loving music, women loving life unapologetically, unabashedly and unconditionally. #sirees is currently in exile and his books banned in #syria . I gotta hand it to the Syrian censors to at least recognize the compelling and unequivocal power of Sirees’ writing style and his amazing mastery of so many stories conversing with each other regardless of times and eras. #highlyrecommended without a doubt! #syrianliterature #ottomanempire#banatalishreh #pushkinpress #antioch#forbiddenlove #womenlove#mandateofsyria #iskenderun #انطاكيا#Antakya #ﺣﻠﺐ
