What can I possibly say that hasn’t been said before about this book? I love #talesofthecitybecause at this point in my life #rereading it feels like encountering an #oldfriend from a previous life. If there’s one thing which #armisteadmaupin succeeds at here and throughout the #miniseries is creating non-stop twists and intrigues to keep you captivated and enticed. Rereading this book feels like telling that great story (or gossip!) that happened to a friend a million years ago. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve said it before or how much of it it’s still accurate, the process of reliving or remembering that story makes it all worth it. I also think this book and its stories within the entire series are clearly intended to be enjoyed and shared and talked about. #maupin was not in the business of creating global or erudite literature. So if you decide to read it, you need to appreciate it for what it is and what it has meant to so many people. I personally believe that its ability to connect with so many different people is definitely a testament to the writer’s power to use timeless observations in order to capture life through words. #recommended #sanfrancisco#genderqueerlit #queerlit #lgbtqi#28barbarylane #annamadrigal#maryannsingleton #monaramsey#michaelmousetolliver#gaysanfrancisco #ballantinebooks#1979 #americanliterature
