I’m very conflicted with this book. Yes, #bodrožić is telling us a story that we should all be aware of. The chaos and corruption right after the dissolution of #yugoslavia and the subsequent #fraticide killings and war was without a doubt traumatic and brutal for families and specially so for internally displaced people. Having said that, I felt that #bodrozic was more interested in enumerating the tragic events happening in a cold and dry way. I want to know how the kids felt when they realize that their dad is never coming out of #vukovar alive? I want to know how the mom felt when she couldn’t provide a home for her kids? I want to know how the brother felt when confronted with his sister’s sexual awakening? You do not get these answers here.
