I found this outstanding book completely at random. Why would I pick up a book about a #flemish family of people left behind? I have no idea why and anyway I’m so happy I did. #verhulst takes #autobiography and #observations to another level. Most of the book feels like Verhulst is painstakingly observing this (his?) family of #misfits and #eccentric But he’s doing it in a sarcastic, hilarious and poetic way. Everything is raw, crude and unprocessed and left out for days to rot and decompose just for you to read. A great tale on what it means to change and those we inevitably leave behind.
