I read #thenakedwoman by #armoníasomersmore than a week ago and I’m still marinating my feelings about it. What does #her nakedness tell us about her? Even more powerfully, what does her nakedness tell us about ourselves and our fragile “clothes”? To tell us the story of #rebecalinke , #armoniasomersemploys an armada of fantastical and magical #allegories which jumps and penetrates one story to another one. It’s a continuum of allegories without any clear beginning or end. It reminded me of two of my previous best books of the month: Palestine’s #saharkhalifehand Botswana’s #bessiehead . Through their books, you get a glimpse into the whirlwind of devastation that they went through until their tragic endings. But is it really about the ending? Or is it instead about the continuum? We are afraid of looking into the continuum to only realize that we were the ones naked all alone, naked with clothes. #highlyrecommended #montevideo#uruguayanliterature #kitmaude#feministpress #elcuencodeplata#somers #elenachavezgoycochea#uruguay #claricelispector #visceral#magicalrealism
