This great book was the one that initially got me interested in reading about #centralasia To say that this book encapsulates the richness and tapestry of the area is basically an understatement. Every chapter brings a new character with his or her unique cultural, religious, ethnic, racial, social perspective on their lives. Ultimately the stories are #vignettes of the #humangeography that lived, could have lived, wanted to live, were forced to live, will live or would have lived in the area which is mainly designed as #tashkent in the book. There is something of a #comingofage underlying story going on as well. But it’s mostly a story per chapter kind of book. If you want to learn and discover about the lives of those connected to this part of the world, this is a great window to begin with. #highlyrecommend#therailway #ismailov #hamidismailov#uzbekliterature #uzbekistan #исмаилов#железнаядорога #multicultural #soviet#ташкент #toshkent #تاشكېنت #magical#hope
