In my obscene obsession to read as many books as possible from places I have not read before, you find some outstanding jewels once in a while. #theroarofmorning by #tipmarugg has to be high up there. This is #nostalgic and #deep and #comtemplative all at the same time. A man observing his life unraveling and smashing to pieces on a daily basis with the passivity and calm of the #caribbean sea. An #idyllic paradise from the outside but clearly a daily prison of tragedies for those living inside. #maruggfeels very #latinamerican in the sense of his exploits of #magicalrealism and absurdist elements. There is a sense of beauty in the constant destruction and abandon coming from an #island supposed to represent worldwide views of hope and merriment.
