I believe I came across #amritapritam while looking for #punjabiliterature . What a jewel I have found! #pinjar or #theskeletonseems to be her #magnumopus and I’m not going to contract that assessment. This #shortstory or #novella is everything I love in a story: direct, incisive and succinct. #pritamdoes not need more than a hundred pages or so to tell you her truth, her story, her world as a #punjabi woman living her own self through the prism of imposed realities. What does it mean to be #pakistani #indian or Punjabi or #muslim #hindu #sikh ? And where is her #womanhood in all of that? Buried underneath these identity narratives and wars or instead catapulted to the surface in a phoenix-life resurgence? #puro and #hamidaare the same woman all throughout the story. We, the readers, know that. But what happens when other realize that?
