What happens once you win the #war and it’s over? Who owns or controls that #memory of the war? Is everyone, every individual even those on the #losing camp allowed to tell their stories? How did you aim at moving forward if there is absolutely no open and honest #reflection for everyone on what just happened? I’d like to think that #thestoryofabriefmarriage by #anukarudpragasam veers toward bringing to the surface #humanstories from the other side, in this case the #tamil side in a horrendous and brutal war. Contrary to other #warstories that I’ve read before, #arudpragasam managers to give life to deep, existentialist and emotional characters. He’s not trying to set the record straight or convince you of his side of the story. He is portraying characters who are ferociously #alive and cleaved to live with their claws despite it all.
