Book set in Bagdad, Australia. Reviewed on 2019/03: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuooKfmnXYV/
Another #textclassicsbook, another great #Australian read! I don’t usually read anything categorized as #childrensliterature . But I was running out of options for books set in #tasmania and I’m SO glad I gave this one a chance. The best part of this story is without a doubt the complete and unapologetic style which #chauncy gave to the #children in this story. Sometimes the parents not only do not know the answer to your problems, but they might even actively try to hurt and put you down. Chauncy’s message is simple: in the case of #badparents or #abusiveparents the children have every right and responsibility to leave, to escape and aim for something better. #nanchauncy ‘s message seemed bold in 1947 and arguably it still raises some eyebrows these days. #theyfoundacave is an #adventure story for kids and adults that are eager to take their lives into their hands and live to the fullest. Kids and adults alike might find something to learn and rejoice in this wondrous and whimsical book. #recommnded #australianliterature#hobart #bagdad #evilparents#madceintoamovie #debutnovel #orphan#orphankids
