Wild mulberries by Iman Humaydan Younes

Book set in Ayn Anoub, Lebanon. Reviewed on 2020/11: https://www.instagram.com/p/CHnfB0rA7Ap/

#wildmulberries is now my second encounter with #imanhumaydanyounes . This time #younes takes the readers outside of #beirut . Although the capital city always permeates everything throughout the story. #sarah and her family are navigating both the changing landscape of #lebanon in the 1930s and their own secrets and past ghosts. Sarah’s #comingofage seems to be the center of the story. However, the other stories also create their own centers and each character seems to pull the reader in one direction or another. That’s perhaps the only weak point here. I wish Younes would have kept the attention on Sarah until the end. Regardless, this is still a highly sophisticated and enticing story. I’d recommend reading this one first and then her other book #basinbeirut . #recommended#michellehartman#interlink#interlinkbooks#ayntahoon#lebaneseliterature#lebanese#familydrama#searchingformom#lebanesefamily
